Former Pakistan fast bowler Wasim Akram said that if he was included in the think tank of Team India, he would have picked Umran Malik in the team as a replacement for fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah.
Who will replace Jasprit Bumrah in the Indian team for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022? It may not have been officially announced, but Mohammed Shami is currently at the fore in this race and it is believed that it has been decided that he will replace Bumrah in the Indian team. Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram, however, has a different thinking. There have also been reports of Shardul Thakur and Mohammad Siraj going to Australia. But Akram believes that had he been a part of Team India’s think tank, he would have picked Umran Malik as Bumrah’s replacement.
Akram said, ‘Have you seen that boy? Umran Malik… He is fast, the Indian team took him to Ireland where he was thrashed, but it happens in T20 cricket. But you had to stick with him. Had I been a part of an Indian think tank, I would have always kept him with the team. Experience is very important in T20 cricket.
Akram further said, ‘Unfortunately, T20 format is not for bowlers. It is entertaining and it is popular all over the world. The bowlers have to understand that sometimes they will get smashed.
