Gavi scored one of Barcelona’s goals in the victory against Elche and displayed a football that caught all eyes. He meets the future star of La Masía whom everyone praises. At PlayOn99 News we show you who Gavi is.

Pablo Martin Paez Gavira is the full name of this 17-year-old player Gavi, who dazzled world football. This day of LaLiga he scored one of the goals with which Barcelona beat Elche at the Camp Nou and forced everyone to know who this wonder boy is.
Gavi fell back to midfield to take the ball with an oriented cue control. He eliminated the rival priver and supplied the second. When he entered the area, the third opponent came out and finished cross. Barcelona goal. Goal ‘Messianic’.
The player kissed the Barcelona shield in the celebration as he ran towards the stands. His identification with the club comes from La Masía. Gavi was born in Los Palacios and Villafranca -Seville- and started in Real Betis, but -at 11 years old- Barcelona knocked on the door and took the promise. In 2020 he signed his first contract. Debuted in August this year and surprised everyone when Luis Enrique -Spain’s coach- selected him for the UEFA Nations League.
He is on two records: being the youngest player to debut with the Spanish National Team jersey -17 years and 62 days- and displacing Lionel Messi as the third youngest player to score with the Barcelona jersey.
His age impacts. In the memories there are not many players who have stuck as young. Gavi protects his innocence in an act that is seen during matches. The 17-year-old never knew how to tie his shoelaces properly. He needed help. In every game – even so far – his shoelaces flew through the air. He played with his boots untied. Thus he learned to be agile and not to fall.
Gavi is a special player. He has a unique technique. Missed just seven passes in his six Champions League games. He applies timing and speed well. Raises his head every time. Although he is not an ideal biotype of La Masía: his strength makes him a unique piece of this new Barcelona. From his movements, personality and constant effort to recover the ball, he looks like a true German midfield machine.
His performance in the last game against Elche has aroused the praise of his coach -Xavi Hernández- with whom they also compare. They are alike? Yes, but Gavi has something more than the former Catalan player. We will have to wait to find out if he gets to take such a flight as Xavi. The former captain of Barcelona was consulted at a press conference and said:
“He is not him nor of legal age. Imagine what he is competing for, making a difference. There is no comparison, he has personality. He oozes personality and has no roof “
