After confirming their first quarter-final place in the 13-year history Of FIBA

India went down fighting to Japan  84-91

Up against one of Asia’s best teams, the 50th ranked Indian cagers had a nervous start

As the game progressed, India grew in confidence and tried many defensive moves to keep Japan at bay for the most part of the second half.

The early lead that India conceded, however, proved costly as they lost by just six points

With this seven-point quarterfinal defeat, India narrowly missed their maiden World Cup Spot
