As there is saying “where there is a way there is a will” suites perfectly on the Sri Lankan bowler and the current player of Chennai Super Kings, Maheesh Theekhana. Despite failed venture the bowler somehow managed to grab 12 wickets in the tournament which is just behind Dwayne Johnson and Mukesh Choudhary. He explained his journey through a video released by the CSK team on twitter, He shed light on his struggles especially related to his weight and how many times he was rejected in the fitness test and so on.

Speaking about his weight loss journey, Theekshana recalls his days from U-19 when he was 107 kgs weight and had to work even harder. He said,

“I was 107 kg at that time (U-19 days), so I had to work harder to get my weight and skin folds down in the yo-yo test. In 2020, I got everything down and brought my fitness to the (required) level. I started to do more hard work on my body,”

Getting chance in the year 2021 to play for his country, Theekshana, gives credit for all his inspiration to Ajantha Mendis. And says he never thought that he would be a part of the CSK team but this year he had a chat with MS Dhoni. Even the last year the player was there with the CSK team but as net bowler.

Maheesh in the video recalls about the day when he even was used to deliver water but by believing in himself and having a never die attitude helped him to never water again. Look at what had to say,

“In 2017-18, I was in the U-19 squad, but I never had a chance to play because I failed fitness tests a few times. In 2019, I had to be a water boy for 10 games in three-day matches. So, I knew that if I fail, I would have to carry the water bottles again. But then I kept believing in myself and had that never-say-die attitude. That’s why I am here in 2022,”

We believe every big journey starts from a humble beginning as Maheesh had, and still he has to run a long way doing better for his team.
