Prime Minister Shri Modi congratulated the Indian women’s team for its victory in Common Wealth Games 2022. He said,

“Our women’s cricket team played excellent cricket through the CWG and brought home the coveted silver medal.”

The Indian women’s team won the silver medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022 cricket tournament after losing to world champions Australia in the summit clash. It was a disappointing end to India’s campaign as they finished second despite putting up a brilliant fight throughout the tournament. Still, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, August 8, congratulated the women in blue, serving to encourage rather than dismiss their efforts.

If we talk about the tournament, India’s CWG 2022 campaign began with a clash against Australia as both teams were part of the same group. As India faced defeat in the first match, Australia snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. The Women in Blue then produced an all-around performance to win their remaining two group-stage matches against Pakistan and Barbados to enter the semi-finals.

After this, the players faced in-form England, the other group table toppers, and defeated them by just four runs to become the first team to reach the grand final. However, things did not go their way and they lost to Australia on Sunday evening. All of his efforts were appreciated by opposition captain Meg Lanning, but PM Modi’s touching tweet made his day even more special. Let’s see what did he twitted in detail.

“Cricket and India are inseparable. Our women’s cricket team played excellent cricket through the CWG and bagged the coveted silver medal. Being the first ever CWG medal in cricket, it will always be special.

Best wishes to all team members for a bright future” tweeted PM Modi.
