The two run-outs were game-changing moments: Rashid

After two consecutive defeats, the star bowler of the Gujarat team still feels that they played well throughout the game.GT team lost by 6 runs in the match against Mumbai Indians. The credit for such a defeat goes to Daniel Sams’, who’s super bowling innings which restricted the GT team player to 3 runs in the last over.

When Rashid Khan was asked whether such a performance could raise doubts within the team or so, in the first immediate reaction, the player said “Definitely” and went on to say,

“We finished 4-5 matches after being in the same situation where we got the runs needed. It’s the nature of T20 cricket that you can get 20 off six and on days you can’t even get 10 off six.

“I believe we played well throughout the game. The way they started; we made a good comeback. The two run-outs were the game-changing moments. If you need just 8-9 in the last over, it’s possible. You only need one good hit but that’s the beauty of T20 cricket. Sometimes it’s pretty hard to get nine off six balls and other times it’s pretty easy to get nine off two balls. We learn from it and keep moving on.”

When asked him about his lack of wickets this season?

Rashid so in this season has taken 11 wickets and has smashed some beautiful boundaries and sixers for this team giving them a win but unlike his previous season this season the wickets are less compared to. He said, he never worries about wickets and his major focus or attention is towards having a good economy because of economy is good, it creates pressure on the bowler and eventually wicket comes. He further added,

“Yes, compared to other IPL seasons, I’ve got fewer wickets this year but it’s not a lot. It’s a difference of 2-3 wickets. It’s a matter of 3-4 wickets. In a couple of games, I haven’t bowled as well as I could have but that’s T20 cricket. There is so much for you to learn and I am just trying to do well.”

Rashid Khan says that it is a good lesson for the team from the defeat. He further said,

“You have to learn from those experiences and we, as a team, will now focus on that,”“We have to now try and not repeat all the negative that we have done in the tournament so far. This is a good learning curve for us. Now we need to focus on finishing the games if get into such a situation once again.”

The good thing in the game between the Gujarat Titan and Mumbai Indians was that the Gujarat Titans team were not at all in any kind of distress but Rashid said that the run-outs of Hardik and Rahul Tewatia was the turning point for them. In the current tournament there ample of times when the same team were seen in such situations but some or the other was there to get them out of the situation but this time, unfortunately, was the day the team was looking for but after 8 wins the team has some room for errors which of course will be taken care by the team and they leadership sooner.
