Tonight in the Champions League – Chelsea and Manchester United

Date:

SHARE POST

Chelsea and Manchester United will play tonight the last day of the group stage of the Champions League. Both are classified to the next round and United has already been confirmed as first in their area, but the Blues must confirm a victory to advance as leaders, avoid falling into the hype that dodges the second and continue in the defense of the title.

Headaches for Tuchel

Thomas Tuchel’s team will play Zenit St. Petersburg in the first shift at 11:15 PM (India) and will debut their third kit at the Krestovsky Stadium, which hosted the 2018 FIFA World Cup and was designated for the final of this edition of the Champions League

Those of London are already classified to the next round, but they play the position in which they will advance: if they win, there will be no problems because the goal difference is wide, but in case of losing points depending on Juventus not winning their match against Malmo. Important: if Chelsea advance second in this group, they have a 1 in 3 chance of facing Real Madrid.

The German coach has problems putting together the team. It is known that Ben Chilwell, N’Golo Kanté and Trevoh Chalobah will not be able to be for longer recoveries. Added to them are the casualties of Mateo Kovacic -covid positive- and Jorginho -trains pain in his hip- that make it impossible for him to set up a half of the court that is usual. The latest doubts arise from the situations of Kai Havertz and Marcos Alonso: both were replaced in the last Premier League match by pain and were even seen limping, but they were present in training on Tuesday and could be on the court.

Breathe Ragnick: today is just a test

Manchester United had Young Boys at Old Trafford at 1:30 AM (India) for the last day of Group F and with their team classified as leader to the Round of 16. The outlook is calm and encouraging: since Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s departure, the Red Devils have drawn against Chelsea for three victories. Although he cannot be trusted because on the other side will be the team that beat him in Switzerland on the first date.

Ralph Ragnick confirmed that Nemanja Matic will be the captain and other modifications regarding the last Premier League match that Michael Carrick coached. The interim coach expressed himself in what will be his debut as head of United and said:

I also need to know the other players who did not play Crystal Palace. It is also advisable, at this stage of the season with a packed list of matches in the coming weeks and months, to rest some players

Dean Henderson will be the goalkeeper and Donny van de Beek will have a place as a midfielder. Mason Greenwood seems to be his weakness and he’s probably on the starting team. While we will have to wait to find out if he will score Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard, Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. As for Cristiano Ronaldo: if he scores a goal, he will complete a group stage with goals for the second time in the six matchdays. Something that only Sebastian Haller -in this same edition- shares with the Portuguese star. And we know what CR7 is like with records…
