IPL Mega Auction 2022: Sunrisers Hyderabad will attempt to improve their middle-order

The IPL 2022 auction is scheduled to start from February 12th and will continue till February 13th. Every IPL franchise is desperate to make the most of this auction. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is one of the most influential teams to play in the IPL.
After retaining Kane Williamson for 14 crores, Umran Malik, and Abdul Samad for 4 crores each, the Sunrisers Hyderabad team has Rs 68 crores to buy players and build the team. Williamson, on the other hand, has been a boon for Sunrisers to be the backbone of the middle-order batting lineup. Abdul Samad has also got exceptional hitting skills, while Imran Malik became a sensation in the last IPL at 150 kmph. Recently Kane Williamson was out due to his elbow injury for a long time. The 31-year-old suffered a tendon injury for more than a year, causing him to miss a lot of cricket.

As per the scenario, SRH should look for Devdutt Padikkal and Jason Roy. English batsman Roy could turn out to be SRH’s overseas find and Padikkal is at the peak of his career from the last IPL as he was seen playing some scintillating innings for RCB. Wriddhiman Saha may also get a call in the auction from the SRH management as he was seen opening the innings for them. Also, his wicketkeeping skills are the cherry on the cake.

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s middle-order problems were evident throughout the IPL. To pick an easy middle-order lineup, they can go for Dawid Malan and Steve Smith. Steve Smith is one of the most versatile batsmen of the present times. He has been a regular name for the Rajasthan Royals and has made a mark in this cash-rich tournament. SRH has invested a lot in Rashid Khan, but since he is no longer a part of the team, the Hyderabad-based franchise will be on the lookout for a solid replacement. Chances are high that they go for Yuzvendra Chahal as he had an impeccable record of playing for RCB in IPL. Adil Rashid and Kuldeep Yadav could also be one of their top picks. Adil is an effective overseas spinner and no one can ignore Kuldeep for his complex delivery.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was leading the fast bowling for Sunrisers for a long time. Since he is not in the team, Sunrisers will be looking for a solid fast bowling lineup. As Indian fast bowlers, they must consider Mohammed Shami and Avesh Khan. Bolt, Kagiso Rabada, or Cummins could be their foreign choice.

Key Highlights:

  • Kane Williamson, Umran Malik and Abdul Samad have been retained by the franchise.
  • To settle their middle order back in the pavilion, the SRH team can go for Steve Smith and Dawid Malan.
  • SRH recently shared a glimpse of their redesigned jersey.
  • With the departure of Warner and Bairstow, Devdutt Padikkal and Nitish Rana would be an ideal option for SRH.
  • From the bowling side, Kagiso Rabada, Yuzvendra Chahal and Shardul Thakur will be the key bowlers where SRH would like to bid.
