Pakistan lost to Zimbabwe by one point in the T20 World Cup match on 27 October 2022.
Legendary pace bowler of Pakistan Shoaib Akhtar has expressed his disappointment after Pakistan were beaten by Zimbabwe in their Group 2 T20 World Cup match at Optus Stadium in Perth. This is the second consecutive defeat Pakistan has ever received from the beginning of the T20 World Cup in Australia.
Deciding to bat first, Zimbabwe made just 130/8 on aggregate as Mohammad Wasim Jr. conceded four wickets when he returned to the starting eleven. But in return, Pakistan fell behind in many respects, thanks to Brad Evans’ brave final. While analyzing the game, Akhtar lashed out at the team’s tactics, saying that Babar Azam was bad. He even hinted that he was the captain.
“I don’t know why it’s so hard to understand. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: with our upper and middle levels, we can do great things. Continuously, we can’t win. Pakistan has got a bad captain. Pakistan will be excluded from the World Cup. Nawaz bowled the last one in the three games we lost,” Akhtar said in a video uploaded to his YouTube channel. He has highlighted areas of need.
Babar must promote himself in the batting order “Babar should bat one-down position. Shaheen Shah Afridi’s fitness is wrong. We support you, but what brand of cricket do you play? You can’t just enter a tournament and expect your opponent will let you win,” he added.
Pakistan will face the Netherlands in their next Super 12 match on Sunday. However, a loss could end the T20 World Championship campaign.
Pakistan will next face three teams-Netherlands, Bangladesh, and South Africa. Even if Pakistan wins all three of its remaining games to reach the semi-finals but will have to rely on other teams winning or losing.
