Newly-appointed captain of the white-ball formats of the game, Sharma, revealed that Dravid approached every single player in the team following his appointment and spoke with them.
Dravid took charge of the team after Ravi Shastri stepped down from the role following the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup. He started his tenure in charge on a positive note, registering a 3-0 win over New Zealand in the T20I series last month.
As Team India prepares for their upcoming Test series against South Africa, which is set to start on December 26, Sharma is confident Dravid will be able to bring the team together and make them work well together as a unit.
“everyone knows how hard Dravid worked as a cricketer and is sure ‘coach’ Dravid will do the same.”
“Rahul Bhai was a brilliant cricketer, we all know that without a doubt. He had to work so hard to get where he is today. I think that is going to reflect on this team as well,” Rohit told Boria Majumdar on his show ‘Backstage with Boria”.
Sharma added he has no doubt that Dravid will make the team work hard and push them to their limits so that they can achieve the results they want.
He also revealed that Dravid spoke personally to every member of the team and reiterated that Dravid will be looking to form a structure and define the role of each individual in the squad.
The newly-appointed vice-captain of the Test squad is confident that Dravid will provide clarity to players on why they were selected (or left out) of the squad, so that no player feels neglected.
Dravid has worked with India A and India U-19s and was the head at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), and has previously worked with several first-team members.
