England’s star all-rounder Ben Stokes had retired from the ODI format citing workload management. Since then there has been a debate about this. However, Indian captain Rohit Sharma has a different opinion. He dismissed the ongoing debate about ODIs and said that it is all nonsense. In the last few months, many statements have come to the fore regarding the abolition of ODI cricket. Many former veteran cricketers and experts have given their opinion on this issue. Some believe that ODIs will be over in the coming years.

At the same time, some believe that it is an important part of cricket and despite the criticism, this format will not make any difference.

Recently, England’s star all-rounder Ben Stokes retired from the ODI format citing workload management. Since then there has been a debate about this. However, Indian captain Rohit Sharma has a different opinion. He dismissed the ongoing debate about ODIs and said that all this is useless talk.

Rohit said at an event organized by a sportswear brand – My name is derived from ODI cricket. So these things are unnecessary. Earlier people used to talk like this about Test cricket. Now saying such things about ODIs. Cricket is important to me, whatever the format. I would never say that ODIs are ending or T20s are ending or Tests are ending.

Rohit also added– If there was any other format of cricket, I would have played that too, because cricket is important to me. Since childhood, I dreamed of playing cricket for India. Whenever we play ODIs, the stadium is packed. Thus the enthusiasm remains. Now everyone has a choice of which format he wants to play, but for me all three formats are important.

Rohit said that he would prefer any league to play for the country anytime. He said- I don’t know which people prefer international cricket or league but I personally like to play for the country more. In the coming time, it will be known which player likes what. In Indian cricket, players still give priority to the country. Also, we play IPL.

Rohit said- Young players have been getting opportunities in Team India and they are getting exposure. Our aim has been to strengthen the bench strength. Many new players have also gone to Zimbabwe. Be it Shahbaz Ahmed or Rahul Tripathi. This is a good opportunity for young cricketers.
