Roberto Carlos returns to football: the world champion with Brazil will play in a league where the players are not only amateurs, but also play for teams that are formed in English pubs.
By Facundo Di Bona (@facudibona).
Everything was born as a result of a move orchestrated by the popular site for auctions and electronic commerce through the Internet, eBay, which organized a raffle.
Any English amateur club affiliated with the Saturday or Sunday League could participate there paying as little as five pounds sterling and they would compete to win the availability for a match of Roberto Carlos or Eniola Aluko, a former player established in the women’s Chelsea.
The privileged ones were the guys from the Bull In The Barne, a team from a pub in Shrewsbury, in the west of England!

The primary objective of the raffle was to raise funds for Football Beyond Borders, an organization that works on the education and social inclusion of underprivileged youth.
Who now takes away from the players of the Bull In The Barne the illusion that, in one of the next days of February, they will be able to share the field with all a glory of world football, who once again stands out vice at 48 years old.
Hours after the result was made public, one of the Bull In The Barne players, Matthew Brown, spoke with the BCC and confessed that when the club’s manager told them on Whatsapp that they had been the winners, they all I took it as a joke and no one believed him:
“Our manager, Ed Speller, texted to say we won the competition and none of us believed him. We thought he was cheating on us. I went out Friday night and woke up with a bit of a headache on Saturday and when I got, I looked at the cell phone and saw that it had messages from people saying: ‘Is it true about Roberto Carlos?’ At that moment I was thinking: ‘It can’t have happened, it’s just a dream.'”
How is the league where Roberto Carlos will play?
In a totally amateur and bizarre Sunday league, made up of teams with players who, as a general rule, are not in very good shape and who, on top of that, are sometimes affected by what they ingested the night before.
The name of the club in which the Brazilian is going to play literally bears the name of a bar…
Roberto Carlos has come out of retirement to play for Sunday League side Bull in the Barne United from Shrewsbury.
