Premier League – Manchester United: Cristiano stays, Rangnick leaves | Playon99 News

The Rangnick era is said to have come to an end: Manchester United’s directors have decided to end his time at the club and Cristiano Ronaldo will stay on to complete the remaining year of his contract. Ten Hag, Pochettino, Zidane and Rooney are among the candidates.

After the Champions League elimination at the hands of Atlético Madrid, Manchester United’s directors considered that they made a mistake in putting Ralf Rangnick in charge of the first team, when he was originally going to occupy a position as the club’s sporting director.

Likewise, it seems that the German will be fired from the club not only because of the sporting results, but also because of the terrible management he had in the Manchester United dressing room.

Among the most distanced with the coach was Cristiano Ronaldo, who went to Portugal when Rangnick sidelined him from the Manchester derby because he had physical discomfort, although the player’s entourage said the opposite, and it seems that -with his dismissal- the Portuguese’s desire to stay one more year with the Manchester United shirt returned.

Despite speculation about Cristiano’s departure at the end of the current campaign, the top scorer in the history of soccer is confident that the club will get it right with the choice of the next manager and the reinforcements to aspire to win the Premier League and compete in the Champions League next season.

The favorite to replace Rangnick is Ajax coach Erik Ten Hag, according to The Telegraph, although Manchester United officials have yet to make a decision on the next person to sit in the Old Trafford dugout.

Rangnick arrived at Manchester United at the end of November to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but he has not improved the team’s performance.

Quite the opposite: the German coach has failed to empathize with Cristiano Ronaldo, whom he even criticized for his efficiency in front of goal being the team’s top scorer with 18 goals in 33 games.

Those words caused a total fracture between the two and the elimination of the Champions League in the Round of 16 has finally tipped the balance in favor of the Portuguese star and sentenced the German.

Among other candidates to replace Rangnick are Mauricio Pochettino, Wayne Rooney and Zinedine Zidane, although all of them seem to be running from behind or difficult for Manchester United’s directors to get.
