Manchester City was once again a machine. This time, the one who suffered was Wolverhampton. With four goals from Kevin de Bruyne and one from Raheem Sterling.

The team led by Pep Guardiola took a key step towards the Premier League title. A 5-1 lapidary that leaves Manchester City at the top. And three points ahead of Liverpool with just two games to go.

After Klopp’s team’s victory over Aston Villa, Manchester City was obliged to win at Wolves’ stadium. And the one who understood that obligation best was De Bruyne.

The Belgian put the team on his shoulders. In the first 23 minutes of the game he had already scored a hat-trick. And then, in the second half, he scored the fourth of his personal account. Tremendous.

The third earliest hat-trick in the history of the Premier League served to put on a plate a well-worked victory. And from a team that wants to be champions.

After the Champions League elimination, they put the problem behind them. And after Liverpool’s setback, the math works out the first time: Manchester City can even lose one of the two matches they have ahead of them. And they will still be champions.

Manchester City on course for the title

Despite several absentees, Guardiola’s team won clearly and showed that their final sprint is impressive. In the last five games they scored no less than 22 goals: 3-0 at Brighton, 5-1 at Watford, 4-0 at Leeds, 5-0 at Newcastle and 5-1 at Wolves.

He has 94 goals in 36 Premier League games played. A chilling average of 2.6 goals per game.

Now, everything is in the hands of Manchester City. They have two games left: away against West Ham and home against Aston Villa.

Liverpool, meanwhile, will have to face Chelsea in the FA Cup final. After that, they will have to play against Southampton and Wolverhampton in the Premier League. And hope that Manchester City loses a point in the end.
