Saint Peter’s lost to North Carolina in the NCAA Playoffs and said goodbye to a historic campaign that we already told you about in PlayOn99 News. The home of Michael Jordan qualified to the Final Four and will have a historic and spicy duel against Duke.

The clock struck 12, the carriage turned into a pumpkin and the Cinderella story ended: Saint Peter’s University, the greatest miracle in NCAA history, woke up from its dream and ended its adventure in the March Madness after losing to North Carolina.
The team led by Hubert Davis won 69-49 against Shaheen Holloway‘s team to reach the 21st Final Four in its history thanks to the performance of Armando Bacot, who finished with 20 points and 22 rebounds, being the first player to sign a 20+20 since Akeem Olajuwon did it with the University of Houston in 1983.

North Carolina (28-9), number 8 seed and historic home of Michael Jordan, arrives in New Orleans to experience the most classic NCAA duel ever in a Final Four: they will face the Duke Blue Devils and will try to be the last rival of the legendary Mike Krzyzewski, who was already bitter about his farewell as a coach.
While Krzyzewski’s winding road to retirement has been one of the big stories of this March Madness, nothing has captured the imagination more during this NCAA tournament than Saint Peter’s streak.

The total basketball budget for this Jersey City, New Jersey, group is $1.6 million, which is about $400,000 less than Davis makes in a year.
Peacocks coach Shaheen Holloway took the time to explain that Saint Peter’s wasn’t its usual self in the first 10 minutes and that’s why it tipped the scales for North Carolina.

To put in context: North Carolina’s Leaky Black missed a free throw at the two-and-a-half-minute mark, but Bacot stepped up to grab the offensive rebound and get the ball back.
That gave North Carolina a 7-0 lead, while in Saint Peter‘s three tournament wins – over Kentucky, Murray State, and Purdue – they had not trailed by more than six.

Duke and North Carolina will contest one of the College Tournament semifinals, while Kansas will face Villanova after coming from behind in its quarterfinal game against the University of Miami.
The two NCAA semifinals will be played on April 2 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. A court that will also host the grand final on Sunday, April 3.
