NBA – Warriors could win without Green and a subdued Curry

Golden State Warriors and Utah Jazz were far from what could be expected from their offensive performance in a duel between two of the best teams in the NBA. Bogdanovic and Poole put their faces in a game that had a false shot on the buzzer.

Although strong emotions were not lacking in San Francisco, where Steve Kerr’s men got a good 94-92 victory without having Draymond Green, not playing well and having Stephen Curry off and well below the level he has accustomed us to.

After beating Houston Rockets on a game winner buzzer from Curry, the Warriors once again showed that they miss Draymond Green and we couldn’t see any more heroics from the greatest 3-point shooter of all time.

Although they managed to win again when they suffered the most, in part because Utah missed a couple of shots to win -Bojan Bogdanovic’s triple- or tie -Royce O’Neale- when the buzzer was about to sound.

Those from California managed to win against another of the great Western Conference candidates, but the expected level was far away when the points are reviewed in the last quarter: a poor 11 points for Golden State and a disappointing 17 for the Jazz.

There weren’t too many names to stand out in the game in terms of individual productions, but among them the 20 points of Jordan Poole stand out, important in the face of the losses of Draymond Green and Klay Thompson, but also because of how off Stephen Curry was with 5-20 field -13 points- and Andrew Wiggins with 6-17 and 14 units.

Curry is one of those who is feeling the most the loss of that offensive facilitator that is Draymond Green: in recent games, he lowered his scoring production to 22.3 per game and his 3-point percentage to 31.4%.

All of Golden State has a very low production to the point that they have the third worst rating in the NBA so far in 2022 with 106.4 points per 100 possessions, in a sample of 13 games, only above very poor teams like Orlando Magic and Oklahoma City Thunder.

Utah Jazz were on court without Donovan Mitchell due to a concussion and had Bojan Bogdanovic as a figure with 21 points and 8 rebounds, although Mitchell’s absence marked the limitations of having as a second star a player who always plays well and is fundamental, but he doesn’t have that extra gear to elevate his game when that needs to happen.

We’re talking about Rudy Gobert, who finished with 12 points and 5-10 from the field in 36 minutes. A great player, but because of his few offensive resources, someone who doesn’t have that plus of the best in the league. In games like this, it shows and it costs you a defeat.
