Golden State Warriors defeated Denver Nuggets and returned to be calm in the West. Curry and Poole were key for the franchise that has clarified that it must continue on this path towards the NBA Playoffs.

Golden State Warriors saw the light again and, after a streak of 5 consecutive losses, defeated Denver Nuggets by 113-102 to chase away a little the crisis in which they live the last games.

The absence of Draymond Green left the Warriors with a squad that -like Brooklyn Nets with Kevin Durant- needs a fundamental piece in the team’s set-up to have a good defense.

Nor did Klay Thompson, in good form in his first few games after his long injuries, manage to progress, while Stephen Curry mixed formidable and other lousy performances for his big NBA star.

The streak of Golden State Warriors was stopped with a great victory against Los Angeles Clippers and also now, against Denver Nuggets, in a sporting resurrection of Curry, who needs several performances like tonight’s to face the NBA Playoffs as he deserves.

Curry signed the best record of the game with 34 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists, followed closely by Nikola Jokic (23+12+9) who was on the verge of the triple-double, but had the lousy mark of 0 of 8 in three-pointers.

Golden State Warriors had to suffer to pull out the game against Denver Nuggets: they were bdown at halftime before scoring 37 points in the third quarter and turning around a score that they had to tie in the last.

The second half was 62-42 for Steve Kerr’s Nuggets, who took advantage of Jokic’s bad day to improve their defense, but did not fall short on offense.

The Warriors were down by as many as 14 points, but in the final period they went up by 11 before holding off their opponents’ onslaught.

Stephen Curry was the best player of the game and his mark added 2 steals in a good series of shooting -11 of 21, with 5 of 12 in three-pointers- although Jordan Poole was the hero of the game and signed 21 points, 11 of them in the last quarter, and was the one who finally tipped the scales.

Andrew Wiggins is still on the hot seat -7+4+5+3, but 3 of 11 from the field and 1 of 7 in three-pointers, many of them free throws- while Klay Thompson managed to reach 18 points, Jonathan Kuminga the same number and Kevon Looney had his usual success: 5 of 5 in shooting for 10 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists.

Golden State Warriors were not good in the zone and allowed up to 12 offensive rebounds, but the local collapse in the second half allowed them to take the victory.

The Warriors remain third in the Western Conference and are one of the few that have been on a losing streak and have not dropped out of contention for the NBA Playoffs.

The Denver Nuggets dropped a bit from sixth place in the West and are two wins ahead of the Minnesota Timberwolves, the franchise that is chasing them from below for the last direct berth.
