After three straight losses, the last one against a very poor Orlando Magic during the whole season. Golden State Warriors took some air perhaps in a duel where nobody expected it. In their visit to the Miami Heat, leaders of the East, and without Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, they won 118-104.

Jordan Poole -30 points and 9 rebounds- led this great victory for the Warriors while Kyle Lowry -26 points and 9 assists- was the best for the Heat, who experienced one of the tensest moments of the season when star player Jimmy Butler and coach Erik Spoelstra had to be separated when they almost came to blows.

A bad start in the second half, topped by a 19-0 partial was the trigger for a succession of arguments on the bench that ended with the player and the coach throwing different situations of the clash in each other’s faces.

The tension reached a point where the other members of the Heat had to separate Butler, Spoelstra and also Udonis Haslem, who sided with his coach.

The Miami Heat coach spoke at a press conference and used the conflict to try to lift his team’s spirits:

“There are moments like this that you can use in a season to catapult you. We can get stronger together over frustration and disappointment. Teams can go the other way too. I don’t see that with our group. Not in our locker room. But we needed a kick in the butt”

Butler had questioned the collective attitude during the Golden State Warriors’ scoring spree that left the Miami Heat down by a wide margin and automatically the experienced coach came out swinging.

Hasler, one of the trusted pillars on Spoelstra’s team, jumped to his coach’s defense by telling Butler that he would kick his ass, so the player also got pissed at his 41-year-old teammate.

Miami Heat players themselves couldn’t help but answer questions from reporters in the press room, and one of those who sought to give an explanation on the matter was Bam Adebayo:

“This is us in practice. When we practice, we get to that point where it seems like we want to fight each other when we get so angry, but it’s just the competitive nature that we have on this team”

Miami Heat is leading the NBA Eastern Conference despite a string of bad results, but Milwaukee Bucks is closely watching them with a game and a half behind to steal the prized spot that grants home-court advantage in all Playoff definitions.
