NBA – Dallas sweeps Utah and takes a big step for the home team | Playon99 News

The Mavs had another good night as a team and beat the Jazz in a duel that is worth much more than a win. Doncic, Brunson and Bullock were a superb trio to finish fourth in the West and have the NBA Playoffs home stand in hand.

Dallas Mavericks set a steady course towards the fourth position in the Western Conference with their 114-110 victory over Utah Jazz, although there are still some games left in an NBA regular season that does not give respite.

In a duel that could have been the preview of a Playoffs clash, Dallas Mavericks took advantage with three key players: Luka Doncic, Jalen Brunson -both with double-doubles- and Reggie Bullock.

Doncic shined again in a team that was tailor-made for him and that allowed him to finish with 32 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists. Services for his teammates that served for Brunson (22+10+5) and Bullock (23+4) to complete a great game.

The victory of the Mavs was important to keep the fourth position that gives the option to have home-court advantage in the first round and even more to beat a direct rival in that dispute.

If things keep going the way they are in the NBA regular season standings, Dallas and Utah could also face each other in the first round of the Playoffs.

An NBA Playoffs that saw the Mavericks bow out in the first round the last two seasons to the same opponent: the Los Angeles Clippers, now eighth in the Western Conference.

The rivalry between Utah and Dallas is in ascending order, supported by the crossover of Doncic and Rudy Gobert, although the latter was not a participant on this occasion due to a blow to the right leg.

The two franchises have evolved, up and down, over the past few months, Dallas with more visible roster changes and from less to more and Utah more sustained over time and from more to less.

Dallas Mavericks knows, moreover, that the home factor has become important if the matchup is against the Jazz: in the four games between them this season, the home team has always won, two and two, so having one more home game seems crucial to pass that test.

As for the last duel, the Jazz were better on the court, not only with the absence of Gobert, but also that of his substitute Whiteside, and had to devise a conscientious plan.

Donovan Mitchell made the right selection of his shots and those of the others also went in, it was an idyllic situation for the Utah Jazz to start the duel like that, but after Doncic’s first break, between the first and second quarter, the locals charged hard.

Bullock hit three three-pointers and alerted that his hand was on fire, while Doncic closed the first half, after two contact penetrations, with a step-back three-pointer at the buzzer. They went two halves down by 21-29 and 58-59 for a break that already warned of an even game.

With another on a pass from Doncic on the restart, Dallas Mavericks took the lead on the scoreboard. The tornado in those minutes was furious and the gap grew to nine goals in just three minutes.

Mitchell’s lack of inspiration – which he thanked after the game to those who played, without mentioning Gobert explicitly – and no second or third option on offense was eroding the Jazz’s ability to respond to the Mavs and regain command of the game.

Dallas Mavericks managed to cut themselves off only for the third quarter with a 90-79 lead and by the last quarter their lead was extended by three more to finish 114-110.
