NBA – Celtics take a great duel against the Nets | Playon99 News

Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets took to the court and put on a show worthy of the NBA Playoffs. Tatum broke all the numbers with over 50 points and Durant was once again the mainstay of a team that can’t find the results it needs.

Boston Celtics defeated Brooklyn Nets 126-120 in a very tight game where Jayson Tatum dazzled with 54 points.

Kevin Durant was the support for the Nets, where his 37 points were not enough to avoid defeat and he was the top scorer of his team for the second consecutive time since he returned to the courts.

Just one day after LeBron James stunned the NBA with 56 points for the Los Angeles Lakers, Tatum took over with a sensational 54-point, 5-rebound, 3-assist, 8-of-15 three-point performance.

Jaylen Brown -21 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists- was Tatum’s best companion in a Boston Celtics that made 17 of 36 three-pointers and in which Al Horford had 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists.

For the Brooklyn Nets, Durant, who returned Thursday from an injury that sidelined him for a month and a half, was the best ahead of Kyrie Irving, who contributed 19 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists, just ahead of Bruce Brown (16+6+5) and LaMarcus Aldridge (14+5+1).

The first quarter went like the rest of the game: Boston Celtics showed that they are playing better and better as a team, with Tatum opening the game and infecting his teammates, while Brooklyn Nets seemed to leave all the weight on Durant.

Marcus Smart (14+3+9) gave the Boston Celtics a short-lived lead, but Goran Dragic, coming off the bench, helped the Brooklyn Nets finish the first half up 34-29.

The Celtics reacted strongly with two consecutive three-pointers by Tatum and between Patty Mills (3) and Durant, the Nets regained the game’s dominance from the perimeter.

Horford prevented the Nets from running away on the scoreboard in a stretch that saw a succession of three-pointers, dunks, and spectacular steals.

Tatum had 20 points at halftime and Durant 19, but it was LaMarcus Aldridge who gave the Nets a shy difference (58-60) after a first half in which the visitors excelled in three-pointers (8 of 14).

After the break, Tatum’s three-pointers appeared again and with 2 of 2 in a row made Boston Celtics go ahead on the scoreboard and lead the game.

However, Durant came back into the game and got his chest out by stringing together 7 points as Brooklyn Nets reached their largest gap of the afternoon of 90-81.

Standing up to Durant at TD Garden was Tatum, who nailed his seventh three-pointer to that point – 16 points in the penultimate quarter alone – to leave the scoreboard at a tight 89-90 at the end of the third quarter.

An impressive Tatum – he would go on to score 18 points in the final quarter – showered the dedicated Boston Celtics fans with joy.

With impossible penetrations and also hitting from the shot, Tatum gave the Celtics the victory, who managed to finally quell Durant and the Nets’ rebellion with a three-pointer by Brown in the last minute.

Boston Celtics (39-27) clinched fifth place in the Eastern Conference after winning 14 of their last 16 games, while Brooklyn Nets (32-33) remain on a downward slide after stringing together four losses and following a woeful February in which they lost 10 of their 13 games.
