NBA – Celtics continue their steady pace | Playon99 News

Boston Celtics cruised past Oklahoma City Thunder in a victory that keeps them in fourth place and with the peace of mind that they will be at home in the NBA Playoffs. The Eastern Conference is red hot and the Celtics, led by a spectacular Tatum, are hoping to finish as leaders.

In Boston they can’t stop smiling and it’s no wonder: after a nervous start to the season full of doubts, the Celtics are in a great moment, at their best, at the precise moment of the season when they need to consolidate their position in the NBA Playoffs.

For example, they easily defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 132-123 on the road to close their four-game road trip in the West undefeated.

They have lost only one of their last nine games and are looking at the first position in the Eastern Conference as a real option: they are 2.5 games behind the Miami Heat, leader of the standings, although the Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks -the reigning NBA champion- are closer to achieving it.

All this with an unstoppable Jayson Tatum: the forward signed against OKC his third game with 30 or more points with 36, points 7 rebounds and 6 assists with 5 of 11 from three-point range.

Tatum is at the best average of his career (26.9) and is the NBA’s March leader in points with an average of 34.4 and in three-pointers per game with 9.9 shot with a 45.5% success rate.

Incredible numbers for a special player that against Oklahoma City Thunder had the great company of Jaylen Brown -25 points and 3 rebounds- and Grant Willimas with a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds.

The game did not have much history: Boston Celtics broke it right from the start with a 13-0 run that made the game very difficult for the Thunder, who were always behind on the scoreboard and even lost by 26 points to finish the first half with a 38-21.

By the second quarter, the Oklahoma City Thunder came back by just three points to finish with a 65-51 lead that stretched to 108-84 after halftime.

The Celtics put the game away with 43 points in the third quarter before relaxing and letting their opponents dream of a comeback attempt that fell just short.

For the Thunder, the top scorers were Tre Mann (35+7+4), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (31+1+9) and Darius Bazley (22+10+3). Good individual performances in a team that will finish among the last of the NBA regular season.
