Maxi Rodriguez – ex Liverpool retires from football at 40

Former Argentine Liverpool player Maxi Rodriguez retired from professional soccer yesterday. La Fiera had announced his decision in November and yesterday, during the night of Argentina, he did it with honors before the public of Newell’s Old Boys, the club that saw him born and of which he is an idol.

Was running the 11th minute of the second half and the coach understood that he should take him out at that time. Well, the watch matches his shirt number. All the teammates went to hug him. The Coloso Marcelo Bielsa stadium – dedicated to the current Leeds coach – unfolded a cataract of fireworks and his people, who filled the stadium just to see Maxi Rodriguez, cheered him on. There was no other reason for there to be so much public: Leprosy Rosarina is 19th in the Argentine tournament and she did not have a great rival in front of her.

Maxi Rodríguez knew how to wear the Liverpool shirt between 2010 and 2012. He came to the city of The Beatles after a great stint at Atlético Madrid, reached the starting position quickly and forged a great duo with Luis Suárez to stay champions of the League Cup. In a very short time, the Argentine midfielder was able to enter the hearts of The Reds fans and they even dedicated a song to him.

La Fiera, as he is known in his native Rosario, returned to Newell’s, the club of his love, fully and while playing the Champions League with Liverpool. His team fought not to lose the category, but ended up winning the Argentine tournament. Lionel Messi is a fan of that same team, who sent a special greeting to who was also his teammate in the Argentine National Team.
