La Liga – Ancelotti is a record man

La Liga – The Italian coach won the Spanish championship with Real Madrid. And he achieved an incredible record: he is the only person to win the 5 top leagues in Europe. In PlayOn99 News we review each of the conquests. Although it is not the only record he broke.

By Facundo Di Bona (@facudibona).

From that consecration in Italy with Milan to the current one with Real Madrid after 18 years. Carlo Ancelotti can now boast something that no one else in the history of soccer has achieved.

Being the only coach to win the 5 top leagues in Europe. La Liga, Serie A, Premier League, Bundesliga and Ligue 1. A tremendous achievement for the 62-year-old coach.

Ancelotti rounded off what was to come with Real Madrid. His team won 4-0 against Espanyol and made the Olympic lap at the Santiago Bernabeu.

A personal revenge for Ancelotti. Because in his first cycle at Real Madrid -from 2013 to 2015- he had not been able to win La Liga. Now, it was given to him. And four dates before the end.

But Ancelotti’s history with the local championships began many years ago. And it is worthwhile to review each of these five achievements that have made him famous today.

Milan: Serie A 2003-2004

It all began in his native Italy. With that memorable Rossoneri team he had won the Champions League the previous season. That is why, for the 2003-04 campaign, his objective became Serie A.

They won it two matches before the end of the season: they fought neck and neck with Fabio Capello’s Roma. And with a 2-0 win over them at the San Siro, they turned it around in front of their own fans.

It was a dream team for Milan. It had in its ranks Dida, Cafu, Nesta, Maldini, Gattuso, Pirlo, Seedorf, Kaka and Shevchenko.

Chelsea: Premier League 2009-10

After eight seasons at Milan, he took up the challenge in the Premier League. And won it outright.

It was an incredible tournament, which he won by just one point ahead of Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United. And he beat them both times.

They were crowned in style with an 8-0 win over Wigan on the last matchday. And a few days later, they won the FA Cup.

PSG: Ligue 1 2012-13

After a second unsuccessful season in London, he was asked to leave. And another millionaire appeared as Paris Saint-Germain. Who made him their first top coach in the era of Qatari petrodollars.

After arriving in the middle of the previous season, in 2012/13 he won the Ligue 1 title, the third domestic league of the 10 PSG already has. It was achieved with three rounds to go, leaving Olympique Marseille in second place, 12 points behind.

Bayern Munich: Bundesliga 2016-17

It was a few years after Ancelotti made a first stop at Real Madrid. And after his departure from Spain, where he failed to win La Liga but did win the Champions League, he was chosen to replace Pep Guardiola.

He won the Bundesliga easily, also three rounds before the end. And he finished 15 points ahead of second-placed RB Leipzig. It was the fifth title in Munich’s current run of 10 in a row.

Real Madrid: La Liga 2021-22

After spells at Napoli and Everton far from the big lights, Florentino Pérez once again placed his trust in Ancelotti at Real Madrid. The coach took over knowing that he had to replace Zinedine Zidane and the season is going very well.

He has already won the European Super Cup and achieved the long-awaited La Liga with a 4-0 win over Espanyol, which by now marks a 17-point difference over Sevilla.

Another record broken and one still to be broken

With this title, Real Madrid’s 35th La Liga in its history, Ancelotti also secured another achievement. Being the only coach in the 120 years of the white club to win all six major titles: La Liga, Spanish Super Cup, Champions League, Club World Cup and Copa del Rey.

Zidane, who was Ancelotti’s assistant in his first stage at Real Madrid, only missed one. The Frenchman was never able to lift the Copa del Rey in his four seasons with the club.

As if that were not enough, now Ancelotti is going for another record that will leave him even higher. And it has to do with the Champions League.

Because he already shares being the most winning player with three titles (2003 and 2007 with Milan and 2014 with Real Madrid) along with Bob Paisley (at Liverpool) and Zinedine Zidane (at Real Madrid). But now he is going for a fourth that leaves him alone at the top. Of course, for that he must eliminate Manchester City and reach the final. With Carlo Ancelotti, anything is possible.
