Kevin Porter Jr. has no rest – NBA

Washington announcer Consor made a nasty comment about Kevin Porter Jr. when the player made the winning shot for the Houston Rockets over the Wizards. The eye of the storm in the National Basketball Association always falls on Porter Jr.

Kevin Porter Jr. has been at the center of controversy for a few days. Sometimes with him as the protagonist, as we told you on PlayOn99 News, when he left a Rockets game at halftime after an argument with an assistant coach, with whom he almost came to blows.

Others unintentionally like last night: Porter Jr. scored the triple winner in the last second against the Wizards and the Washington franchise television announcer made an unfortunate comment that has irritated the NBA and for which it has had to ask sorry.

“Kevin Porter Jr., like his dad, pulled that trigger right at the right time.”

Glenn Consor was the author of the unpleasant phrase after the basket that put the 111-114 on the scoreboard. Anyone who knew the personal background of the Houston Rockets player lost a screw for the sayings.

In 1993, Bryan Kevin Porter Sr., Kevin’s father, pleaded guilty to the involuntary manslaughter of a 14-year-old girl. He was sentenced to four and a half years in prison. Then, in 2004, when the now Houston player was four years old, his father was shot to death in a South Seattle bar.

Porter Jr. himself has had his problems about it. In November 2020, when he was playing for the Cavaliers, Mahoning County Police charged him with improper handling of a firearm after being in a traffic accident. Ultimately, a grand jury did not indict him on the charges.

The phrase of the Wizards announcer is a reflection of what continues to happen in the United States around racism. The comment spread across the country and irritated the NBA universe.

One of the most critical was LeBron James, always faithful to his principles and a rights activist in his country, who immediately went to the crossroads to repudiate the actions of the announcer with the following tweet.

Consor was quick to apologize and explain that it was all due to a mistake, as he confused the father of the Rockets guard with Kevin Porter, a former player who played for the Washington team in the 70s and 80s and who is now 71 years old.

“I mistakenly thought Kevin was the son of former Washington player Kevin Porter. didn’t know that the words I chose to describe the winning shot would be in any way hurtful or insensitive. I have tried to personally apologize to Kevin and hope I can speak to him soon. “
