Like all other teams, Chennai Super Kings inflicted their seventh defeat of the season to Mumbai Indians, helping them hold the record for losing all seven consecutive matches in the history of the IPL league. Before MI it was the Daredevils and RCB that used to achieve such a feat.

It was yesterday a match between the two legends who have won the greatest number of IPL titles in an IPL league. The fight between the two was interesting while the twist came at the end. We’ll tell you all about the match but let’s start the beginning from the CSK side.

Ruturaj Gaikwad (0 off 1) and Robin Uthappa were the two batsmen to open, and the bowler against the two batsmen brought in by the MI team was left-arm pacer, Daniel Sams. And astonishing everyone, on the very first ball, Ruturaj was shown the way towards the pavilion. When Ruturaj tried to flick it to a backward point on the first ball, he did not notice the presence of the fielder and went straight into the hands of the fielder standing. It was MI’s first wicket in this match.

Mitchell Santner (11 off 9) was the third batsman to come on the pitch. And as soon as he came in, he started scoring runs and smashing 4s and 6s over mid-wicket and deep cover, but when his game was on, he tried to pull a shot on the leg side. and mistimed it badly, eventually the ball went straight up into the skies and landed in the hands of the Unadkat. This was the second wicket of the Mis taken by Daniel Sams.

The fourth batsman came in the form of Ambati Rayadu, who started his very first ball with hitting it into the boundary scoring a four off the deep backward square leg. Then the accompanying Uthappa also started hitting straight out of boundaries helping his team to near the run chase but while doing so, gave a simple catch to the fielder standing on the deep backward leg. From the face of Uthappa (30 off 25) he looked completely upset of his shot selection but with no options left had to head towards pavilion. For the MI’s it was there third wicket taken by Jaydev Unadkat.

Then came the southpaw, Shivam Dubey and while he was 13 off 13, the ball touched his bat and when straight to the fielder standing behind the stumps and fabulously caught with a dive by Ishan Kishan and then following was Ambati Rayadu who after scoring 40 runs off 35 balls was sent back to pavilion. These wickets became the fourth and the fifth crucial wicket for the Mis and taken by Daniel Sams again.

Ravindra Jadeja had a no-show day and went out f 3 off 8 deliveries.

Then finally the show began, Dwayne Pretorius, along with the former skipper MS Dhoni, who initially were looking as if they would not be able to pull the match but when it was just 4 balls remaining and the CSK team needed 16 runs to win, MS Dhoni adjusted his gloves in a typical way and started hitting first ball of the remaining four towards the long off hitting a SIX and on the third last ball hit it over the short fine leg for a 4 and on the last ball when 4 runs were needed, Dhoni hit the ball towards the square leg for a four and helping his team to grab the stunning second victory of the league.

Despite, important innings by Dwayne Pretorius, Robin Uthappa, and others, Dhoni remained the hero and saviour of this match and won it in style.

Dhoni was declared the Punch Super Striker of the match

Mukesh Chowdhary grabbed the man of the match trophy, the Upstox most valuable asset of the match, Cred Power player of the match.
