  • Quinton De Kock and KL Rahul made history by building a longest standing partnership in IPL
  • In the nail-biting match, the Lucknow Super Giants won by 2 runs.

Nobody would have thought that the Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants match would be nail-biting. The smashing innings from Quinton De Kock of 140 from 72 balls and KL Rahul’s 68 from 51 deliveries, the LSGs were able to pile up the massive 210 run target against the two-time IPL winner, the Kolkata Knight Riders.

In fact, the game between the duo proved to be the record making match especially for the LSGs. From this match, the south African opener became the first player in this IPL to score 140 runs whereas the partnership between the two, KL Rahul and Quinton also created a new record milestone of building the longest standing partnership in the IPL.

Before KL Rahul and Quinton’s partnership of 210, the record was in the name of Jonny Bairstow and David Warner of 185 playing for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2019.

Well coming back to the match, after winning the toss, the LSGs choose to bat and as openers came the first and last, Quinton De kock and KL Rahul and through their blistering innings helped the team to score a target of 210 on the score board. Quinton after scoring his best said,

“I was a little bit cooked, but I had to get out there and get on with the job. It was just bit of frustration that came out”

However, chasing the target for the KKR team did not go so well and the initial two openers were seen heading back to the pavilion scoring only single digits. The KKR Team stood up on his feet later including the likes of Nitish Rana’s 42 run innings, Shreyas Iyer’s half century (50) and the death over smashing done by Rinku Singh of 40 from 15 balls took the KKR team almost to the victory.

But while, in the last over when the KKR team required 21 runs off 6 balls, Rinku Singh using his talent and expertise was see building pressure on the LSGs but when needing 3 runs of 2 to win, Stonis picked Rinku’s wicket on the second last ball and shattering the hopes for the KKR.

Rinku’s was also sort of miracle, because the way Evin Lewis took that catch was nearly sticking off ball into his hand automatically. Not the least the real game-changer stood out to be Marcus Stonis who sending off Rinku Singh at the second bowl and superb yorker to Umesh Yadav led the LSGs win the match.

Nonetheless, LSGs snatched the moments from the KKRs by 2 runs and entered the playoffs.
