IPL 2022 Mega Auction News LIVE Updates: Hardik Pandya Is Ready to Lead Mumbai Indians

There is less than a week left in the two-day auction of IPL 2022. In the upcoming season of IPL 2022, we will see two new teams joining the club fighting alongside the existing eight teams. The two new teams in the league are Ahmedabad Titans and Lucknow Super Giants.

Hardik Pandya will lead the team of Ahmedabad while the team of Lucknow will be led or headed by KL Rahul. Hardik, who has played for five-time champions Mumbai Indians since making his IPL debut, Hardik Pandya said that he is super excited to start a new journey with newly formed franchise in the IPL T20 league with Ahmedabad.

But recently some reports surfaced as Hardik is keen to lead the Mumbai team again and is considered to be one of the main reasons for letting him go by the most successful franchises in the history of IPL.

What happened earlier?

After a miserable 2021 T20 World Cup, the all-rounder failed to impress the selectors even in IPL 2021 and was eventually dropped from the squad and asked to regain full fitness. The franchise which provided him an opportunity to showcase his talent to the whole world, decided not to retain him for the first time in the latest IPL retention before the mega auction and had to make a tough choice choosing the franchise with four retentions. Unfortunately not Hardik but Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Kieron Pollard, Jasprit Bumrah were selected by the MI franchise.

This eventually prompted the player to post an emotional post on his social media accounts, thanking Mumbai Indians supporters and teammates for giving him immeasurable good memories to relish for the rest of his life. Mumbai Indians have won five IPL titles so far under Rohit Sharma’s leadership which is the most by any IPL franchise and that justifies fans to express their dismay at Hardik’s wish. Look at some of the tweets made by the fans showing their unhappiness:

The Ahmedabad team has so far picked Rashid Khan (Afghanistan spinner) and Shubman Gill on the other hand as the opening batter. The mega auction is scheduled to start from 12th February and will end on 13th. Around 590 Indian players will be seen going through the auction process.
