IPL 2022: Media rights tender to be launched in February

In February, the long-awaited Media Rights Tender Cell will be released. These (IPL) media rights will be subject to the next 5 years (2023-2027). According to media sources the process is going to start before the IPL season and will be taken care of by the global financial advisor KPMG, who has almost finalized the sale rights and tender process which is likely to hit the market in mid-February or third week. Will come February.

The BCCI has appointed KPMG as Financial Advisor to advise him on IPL media rights which was decided by the office of Board Secretary Jay Shah. According to BCCI official the IPL media rights are expected to be around 30,000 crores (for 5 years). The IPL media rights are currently held by Star India, Disney+ Hotstar for both TV and digital, priced at Rs. 16,347.50 crore.

Recently BCCI President Sourav Ganguly also shared light and happiness about the phenomenal sale of two new franchises for 16000 crores and IPL is expected to fetch more than 40,000 crores from IPL Media Rights.

According to media sources, the media rights are going to be released through e-auction process.

Who are the potential bidders whose rights are likely to be the primary claimants?

Amazon, which entered the cricket-streaming arena, is considered the top contender in the process, while Reliance Viacom18 is also seen as one of the major media league players. Amazon’s entry into the cricket segment has expedited the entire bidding process. Everyone knows how Reliance Group and Amazon are cut-throat rivals in business. be it OTT platforms or retail. And this time two titans may clash in getting media rights. Media rights are important for both these companies as Reliance being a domestic company would definitely like to spread its presence in the mind of Indian audience while Amazon would be best not only to compete but also dominate the Indian market., is a sports news website/portal that brings you latest updates on various sports such as Football, Cricket, badminton, Basketball, Hockey and Tennis to name a few but not limited too.
