IPL 2022: Big Thumbs UP for IPL by Australian selectors

George Bailey, the former IPL cricketer and Cricket Australia’s national selector has given green signal to all Australian cricketers to participate in IPL League 2022. Despite the hectic schedule, he has supported his players. The Australians are also going to tour Pakistan in March for Test and ODI series. Australia is going to become the medium of IPL auction this time. 49 Australian players have registered their names in the upcoming IPL auction. Star all-rounders Glenn Maxwell (RCB) and Marcus Stoinis (Lucknow) have already signed big money deals.

  • 9 Australian players to be picked at base price of ₹2 crore (2 billion) – Nathan Coulter-Nile, Ashton Agar, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Marsh, Matthew Wade, Steve Smith, David Warner, Adam Zampa . The names of these players stood up to the highest price value.
  • Players with a base price of 1.5 crore (1.5 billion) – Chris Lynn, Kane Richardson, Nathan Lyon and Aaron Finch.
  • Players with a base price of Rs 1 crore (1 billion) – Moises Henriques, Riley Meredith, James Faulkner, Marnus Labuschagne, Josh Philippe, Andrew Tye and D’Arcy Short.

Australian national selector George Bailey has insisted that the Indian Premier League offers players a huge amount from both a learning standpoint and a monetary point of view.

According to reports, the IPL Mega event is going to be held in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13. 10 teams will bid in hopes of the best in the two-day mega auction. In terms of international performance, the list of players being included as capped players is 270, while 903 are uncapped, and 41 players from associate countries, taking this further to 209 capped, international cricketers, 61 capped, Indian players and 143. The players are Indian (Uncapped) who were part of the last IPL season which included 6 international players (Uncapped).

The Australian players that can prove to be the best for the IPL series 2022 if selected are:

David Warner:

He is the most important player for the IPL franchise, SRH (Sunrisers Hyderabad). David Warner recently was congratulated by the Franchise for laying a major and winning the Ashes series against England.  It is very interesting to note that the player was released by SRH before the mega Auction IPL 2022 and even in the IPL season 2021 where his captaincy was removed.

Pat Cummins :

Pat Cummins is at the top of the ICC Test Bowling Rankings. In the recently concluded Ashes series between Australia and England, Pat Cummins played a leading role and led the latest display of fast bowling excellence with the pink Kookaburra ball.

Glenn Maxwell :

Glenn Maxwell can win you a game in a session. His batting approach can demoralize bowling attacks, transform the defensive line and turn weakness into strength. The player is also the best on the fielding side and is considered by world class standards.

Therefore, not limited to the above there several other players like Adam Zampa, Aaron Finch, D’Arcy Short who can really add some great value to the team for which they will be playing with.
