Mourinho returned to the Giuseppe Meazza and suffered a defeat that left Roma out of the Italian Cup. The Inter Milan tifosi paid tribute and applause to the Portuguese coach who led them to win the Champions League, but they did not forgive him on the pitch.

Inter Milan bounced back from their loss in the Derby della Madonnina at the weekend to beat Roma 2-0 in the Coppa Italia quarterfinals.
Edin Dzeko fulfilled the law of the former and Alexis Sánchez with a great goal from outside the area, converted the goals of the Nerazzurro that qualified for the semifinals.
Two minutes into the game and against his previous team, Dzeko found a cross from the edge of the area by Ivan Perisic and beat Roma goalkeeper Rui Patricio with a forehand.

Roma’s sluggish defense looked more solid as the game wore on, but José Mourinho’s side were too clumsy offensively and failed to convert his few chances.
When it seemed that the tie could come and after the hour of the game, Alexis Sánchez increased the advantage of Inter Milan with a powerful long-range shot that embedded itself in the upper left corner.

It was a special match for Mourinho’s return for the first time to face Inter Milan, the team with which he won the treble in 2010 –Champions League, Serie A and Italian Cup- where he had not returned for 12 years.
As soon as he came out onto the pitch, the Giuseppe Meazza stands collapsed and the current Roma coach once again came face to face with the Inter Milan fans.

The tifosi paid tribute to the coach who made history at the Nerazzurro: there was a tremendous ovation and chants for the Portuguese coach in the run-up to the Coppa Italia match.
Always serious and with a face of few friends, Mourinho was moved to see the recognition of the fans, who had even prepared a special flag for him: “Welcome home, José”.

For Roma, the season with Mourinho is not going as expected: sixth in the local tournament with the same points as Lazio and far from the fight, now a great opportunity has escaped.
He will have the consolation for March with the round of 16 of the UEFA Conference League, third European competition and waiting for a rival.
Massimo Moratti:”I think it will be pretty emotional to see Mourinho climb up the locker room stairs and take a seat on the bench, but not on Inter’s bench. José has given many beautiful things to Inter and to the city of Milan that are not forgotten with the passage of time.” pic.twitter.com/sXqFXOex5Z

For its part, Inter Milan is involved in everything: leader in Serie A, won the Italian Super Cup weeks ago, has the challenge of the Champions League round of 16 and is now in the semifinals of the Italian Cup.
Those led by Simone Inzaghi were superior and were excited about this title that they have not won since 2011.
The rival of the semifinal will come out of this Wednesday’s duel between Milan and Lazio and everyone is expectant because there could be a new city classic, while for the other key they will play Atalanta-Fiorentina and Juventus-Sassuolo.
