A stylish left-handed batsman and former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir prefers Rishabh Pant over Dinesh Karthik. In yesterday’s match, Dinesh Karthik had made their way to playing eleven while Rishabh Pant was the 12th man.
40-year-old Gautam Gambhir was quite surprised by the omission of dashing left-handed batsman Rishabh, further, he says Team management and selectors should pick up players while keeping their eyes on the upcoming T20 world cup.
Rishabh Pant had got an X factor and the ability to turn the fate of the match on his own. Both kippers had played some crucial knocks in recent matches, Pant had performed against West Indies and Dinesh too had made handy contributions but according to Gambhir Rishabh is surely the better of the two.
Team India had only one left-handed batsman in yesterday’s match that too in the form of all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Left and the right-hand combination will always bother apposition bowlers as it disturbs bowlers’ rhythm and movement. Rishabh Pant can even open the batting and bat up in the batting order compared to Dinesh Karthik.
Pakistani legendary Wasim Akram also agrees with Gautam and says “I agree with Gautam’s statement Rishabh Pant is a phenomenal modern era batsman. The way he bats he is always a threat to apposition. He is the future of the Indian cricket team. India is gearing up for Australia and South Africa tours followed by the T20 World cup you must have some plans for him.
Considering the age factor, Rishabh Pant who is 24 years old has obviously more cricket left in him as compared to Dinesh Karthik whose age is 37. So there are a lot of opportunities for Rishabh Pant to sustain in the field and prove himself as he is often compared with the great Australian left-handed wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist for his demolishing batting performances.
