Former Team India player Wasim Jaffer has given a big statement before the T20 World Cup. Now, it is up to all of you readers to take this statement in favor or against the team, but Jaffer feels that Virat Kohli’s return to form along with the already fit Suryakumar Yadav could possibly reduce Shreyas Iyer’s chances of being inside the team. Jaffer said all about this just after the finish of third T20I match with SA and while speaking with the team of ESPNCricinfo. He said,
“I think, yes. Suryakumar Yadav, if he’s fit, walks into Team India and Virat Kohli will be back at No. 3 as well so unless he shows really great form, Shreyas Iyer will lose his spot.”
Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav returns into the Indian team for the Ireland T20 series.

Why is Iyer in radar?
Shreyas Iyer is on the radar for only one reason and that is his poor form against the short ball and fast pace. Now you must be thinking that what is the big deal in this! But to remind you all that the venue where the T20I World Cup is going to be held is a place where the pitch has extra bounce and is best suited for the pacers. And that is the reason why inclusion of Umran Malik, Bhuveneshwar Kumar, Jasprit’s Bumrah can possibly be there. And we say this because, when you see Team India is currently playing all the matches, be it the T20I series against South Africa, or the leftover test from the last year against England, or the 2-match Ireland T20I series in Dublin, all you’ll notice is the experimentation the selectors are making and having the same set of players in one or the other match in order to get a perfect team ahead of the T20I WC this year.

Speaking about another player named Ishan Kishan, Wasim Jaffer feels that he could possibly be kept as backup if the inclusion of KL Rahul, takes place. And why he says that is just because, Rishabh Pant and Ruturaj Gaikwad are already strong options inside of the team and a one inclusion (KL Rahul) can become a matter of worry of the young lad from the Mumbai Indians team.
“Yes, they will be candidates. When KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma return, Ishan Kishan could perhaps be a backup wicketkeeper after Rishabh Pant and Gaikwad [could be there too]. You take 18-20 players so perhaps both could be there.”
Speaking of Rishabh Pant, Jaffer said,
“His game is completely suited to T20s, he just needs a bit better clarity and a bit better approach to his game. The more matches he plays, the better he’ll get.”
Well, there might tons of speculations around from one or the other team fellas, but let the fate decide you is going to be the right face of Team India ahead of the grand T20I World Cup starting from October 16th, 2022.
