FIFA World Cup – The historic Netherlands player took the field in a charity match. But what stood out most was his fitness after hanging up his boots. Sneijder went on to train as a manager at Utrecht and made a comeback on the soccer pitch.

Wesley Sneijder retired from soccer in 2019 after one season with Qatar’s Al-Gharafa Sports Club. The Netherlands midfielder put an end to a playing career in which he played for some of the best teams in the world. After hanging up his boots, he embarked on a period in the office. He became a member of FC Utrecht’s board of directors.

Gone were the soccer fields. But a charitable cause prompted his return to the field. And Sneijder has surprised by his appearance. The physical change in three years, the time that has passed since he stopped playing, is evident.

The former footballer has put on weight and his image has generated a lot of noise in the networks. However, it has all been for a good cause. Wesley took part in a friendly match to raise funds for Ukraine.

It was a charity day for war victims at the Sport Park Wesley Sneijder. In his hometown, Utrecht.

Sneijder great career

Sneijder began his career in Amsterdam playing for Ajax. After five seasons at a high level, he made the jump to Real Madrid. He then signed for Inter Milan, where he enjoyed his best period as a footballer.

He coincided with Mourinho in 2010 and with him he managed to win Serie A, Coppa Italia and Champions League. A hat-trick that he was on the verge of embellishing by winning the FIFA World Cup. But Spain beat the Netherlands in the final of South Africa 2010.

His last stages were spent in Turkey. He played for five seasons with Galatasaray. And finally in Qatar, where he played for Al-Gharafa Sports Club, under the orders of Christian Gourcuff. After one season there, Sneijder finally hung up his boots.
