The Brexit played a trick: Carvalho will not be able to play for England national team because he does not have an English passport. The striker is the star of the Championship, will be promoted to the Premier League and Liverpool wants to sign him, but the English senior team will have to wait to tempt him with a call-up.

Fabio Carvalho is one of the wonderkids of British soccer, with a prodigious waist to get around opponents, he is one of the leaders of the Championship -Fulham- and caught the attention of more than one national team.
The England U21s wanted to call up the Fulham winger, who came very close to signing for Liverpool in January, but has ended up being called up for Portugal’s U21s.

England manager Gareth Southgate bemoaned the situation with the England second-tier star and explained why he could not be called up:
“We would have liked to call him up for the Under-21s, but he doesn’t have an English passport. He was eligible for our younger teams without a passport, but now he can’t be selected and is with Portugal”

Carvalho was born in Torres Vedras in Portugal, but moved with his parents to Britain when he was a child.
It was on the islands that he began to show his talent with the ball, which led to him playing in the youth ranks of the English national team, where he was expected to end up playing for the rest of his life.
Fabio Carvalho has scored eight goals and registered three assists in just 20 games across all competitions so far this season.

Bureaucracy has once again stood in the way of the 19-year-old player, who in the last winter transfer window had his move to Liverpool practically done and due to problems with the processing of his paperwork did not close the deal.
That is why he is still playing at Craven Cottage, where he is on the verge of promotion to the Premier League with Fulham: they are 11 points clear at the top of the table with nine games to go.

Jürgen Klopp has not forgotten about Carvalho and five weeks ago acknowledged at a press conference that they are still thinking about signing him, although they must wait until the European summer:
“We are still interested. We would be crazy if we weren’t, but at the moment it’s not in our hands”
