Exciting day! – Carabao Cup

The Carabao Cup gave us an exciting day during the week with results on the end of the matches. After a date with suspended matches, we could see why English football is the best in the world.

Liverpool 3 (w) -3 Leicester

Exciting day of Carabao Cup started with Liverpool and Leicester drew 3-3 in a match for the heart attack. Those led by Jürgen Klopp advanced to the semifinals winning on penalties thanks to a superb performance from Caoimhin Kelleher. Liverpool’s third goalkeeper became a hero saving two penalties to Luke Thomas and Ryan Bertrand.

Leicester came close to winning a place in the semifinals when they were leading 3-1. Jamie Vardy was the same as always and scored two goals: the first with a cross shot after a great pass from James Maddison and the second reaching the area to define a good counterattack.

Maddison was the architect of an impressive goal. The Leicester midfielder fired violently from outside the area and left the entire Anfield Road speechless. The Foxies had the game under control, but the fury of the locals shattered the dream of winning.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had discounted in the first half when he took a rebound and scored the goal. After the hour of the game, Diogo Jota found the ball inside the area and crossed the goal of Peter Schmeichel.

In the 95th minute and agonizingly, James Milner threw the center into the box, Wilfred Ndidi miscalculated the jump and the ball slipped from behind. Takumi Minamino welcomed the mistake and converted the equalizer with a volley inside the area.

Brentford 0-2 Chelsea

Chelsea advanced to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup by beating Brentford on the road 2-0. Kepa Arrizabalaga was important during the first half to keep the goal at zero: he first covered a head butt at point-blank range inside the small area and then took another head blow near the goal.

Brentford was a slave to himself and paid dearly for his mistakes. Pontus Jansson scored against the first goal of the game when he misconnected a cross. The captain of the premises threw himself to sweep vehemently to get the ball and ended up entering his own goal.

At the end, the Brentford goalkeeper -Álvaro Fernández- committed a child penalty on Christian Pulisic. The ball reached the baseline on a rebound, the goalkeeper could quickly get out to take control and ended up knocking him down when the striker tapped the ball. Jorginho converted the goal from twelve steps.

Tottenham 2-1 West Ham

The Spurs stayed with the London classic in a game where the emotion passed for 5 minutes. The teams did not draw so many sparks in a match marked by the riots in the English capital between fans of West Ham and Tottenham.

The most important thing happened within 5 minutes of the first half. Steven Bergwijn and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg put together a beautiful double-walled play to enter the area and the Dutchman scored the first goal in the 29th minute.

West Ham automatically went to look for the equalizer and had two chances from the corner, but Hugo Lloris took the title of world champion and deflected the header. In the return of that same play, Jarrod Bowen found a rebound inside the area, stepped on the ball to knock the defender and defined for 1 to 1.

Two minutes later and with the start from midfield, Tottenham found the advantage with an excellent play by Bergwijn. The Dutchman was enlightened and encouraged to dribble into the area. He gave the ball to the middle and Lucas Moura pushed it for the final 2-1 in a first half that had all the seasonings.
