England Board Offers To Host Test Series Between India & Pakistan BCCI Not Interested

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) made a formal offer to host a bilateral Test series between India and Pakistan. But the Board of Cricket in India (BCCI) said that there is no such possibility in the near future. According to the report of British daily ‘Telegraph’, England and Wales Cricket Board’s vice-president Martin Darlow held talks with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) during the current T20 series and offered to organize a three-match series in England in the future.

While the ECB has made this offer for its own benefit, the BCCI has said that there is no such possibility in the next few years. A BCCI official told PTI on the condition of confidentiality on Tuesday, “The first thing is that the ECB has spoken to the PCB regarding the Indo-Pak series, which is a bit strange. Either way, the decision of the series against Pakistan will not be decided by the BCCI but by the government. The status quo is still intact. We will play against Pakistan only in multinational events.

India and Pakistan last played a bilateral series in 2012 in India. It was a limited-overs series while the last Test series between the two countries was played in 2007. The newspaper has also cited the reasons for this offer from the ECB.

According to the reports, “These matches in the UK will attract a large number of spectators as there is a large population of South Asian countries. Apart from this, the matches will get huge sponsorship money and will see a lot of viewers on television as well.”

Although the newspaper has clarified that even the PCB is not inclined to play against India at a neutral venue but has also expressed its gratitude to the ECB, which shows the growing closeness between the boards of the two countries.
