Mumbai Indians after their pathetic performance in the current IPL season and being at the bottom of the IPL points table is still believed the team that can perform and be the best.

However, speaking about the captain Rohit Sharma, it doesn’t seem well when it comes to numbers. In the IPL, Rohit Sharma played, a knock of 268 out of 14 games, and his highest score so far in the IPL has been only 48 runs. But despite such an encouraging performance, a few feel that Rohit Sharma should be the face of the series against England which is going to be played in the month of July this year.

Despite the Indian skipper’s poor performance in the IPL, there is someone who still believes that Rohit can do the best. That someone is none other than the former Indian coach, Ravi Shastri. Mr. Shastri still believes that the player has in him the things expecting and don’t think he needs any kind of break. He said,

“I do not think he (Rohit Sharma) needs a break. In case of Virat, he had played every format for a year, year-and-a-half. In the case of Rohit, he has had breaks because of injuries. He did not go to South Africa, he missed half of the Australia tour,”

He further added,

“It is just a case of one of those seasons where nothing clicked from a team point of view. They are a proud combination; they would look to end the season well and so would Rohit. He would get a break after day, 10 days, 14 days and that is more than enough before going to England,”

Just after this IPL, the Indian team are going to be having an extremely busy schedule this year. From June to December, team India are going to engage in almost all formats of matches, and including specially the T20 world cup which is going to take place in November in Australia.

The IPL is going to be ending on May 29th and the first major tournament that team India in their first clash will be facing the South African team from June 9th onwards. This will be an international home series; Then after in July, however, the India team will take on England in a test series (Rescheduled) from July 1st to July 5th of which Rohit Sharma will be the captain whereas KL Rahul will act as the vice-captain.

It will be interesting to see, how the team is going to perform and especially Rohit Sharma who according to Ravi Shastri needs no break at all.
