Crossfire at Manchester United – Premier League

Football news: Manchester United has a war inside the dressing room. Cristiano, Shaw, Maguire and Rangnick would be the triggers of the problem left by the defeat against Wolverhampton.

By Facundo Di Bona (@facudibona).

The Manchester United dressing room has become a veritable tinderbox waiting to explode. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s departure could calm things down at Old Trafford.

However, the first loss of the year against Wolverhampton has brought to light old ghosts and has put the figure of the new coach of the team, Ralf Rangnick, in the trigger.

The coach faces his first crisis and, according to the prestigious Daily Mirror site, there are several players facing Rangnick. They have even asked to leave the club.

According to the British newspaper, 11 footballers want to leave Old Trafford, disappointed with the departure of United and with their role within the team. It is that the defeat against Wolverhampton has left them 7th and with concern in the face of qualifying for the Champions League.

It appears that Rangnick’s arrival has not dampened spirits in a divided locker room. On the contrary, players who felt marginalized by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer say they are suffering similar or worse treatment from the new United manager.

To this is added the little ascendancy that the coach has and the bad impression that his working methods and his tactical approaches are causing on his footballers. The anonymous Mirror source singled out Jesse Lingard, Donny van de Beek, Eric Bailly and Dean Henderson as some of the footballers who are frustrated by the treatment they received and said:

“The atmosphere is really bad in the dressing room and it looks like the team is going to have big problems in the future”.

Gary Neville, former Manchester United captain, also spoke of a division within the dressing room among the footballers themselves and pointed to a conflict between Harry Maguire and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese is in the crosshairs after publicly showing his frustration with the results and the team’s performance when he wrote on his Instagram account that they need “a greater spirit and a stronger mentality”.

Luke Shaw was the first of his teammates to speak indirectly after the publication. Following the loss to Wolves, the Manchester United and England national team defender said:

“Sometimes the quality is not enough. I think we need more intensity”.
