Chelsea vs Lille – News, Line-Ups and Predictions

Holy Champions League: the world champions will clash in the Round of 16 against the French champions. Tuchel and Gourvennec will have a tactical appointment in London to define the first leg of a crossroads that will be repeated and may give something to talk about.

Chelsea – Lille (1:30 AM)

The Blues will welcome the reigning Ligue 1 champions to Stamford Bridge in a duel that presents the teams in a way we didn’t expect: Chelsea have come second in their group and will be at home in the first leg against a Lille side who were leaders.

The team led by Thomas Tuchel is not going through a luxurious moment. They are third in the Premier League – where they dropped a lot of points – and their game has left something to be desired, although they have five consecutive victories and won the FIFA Club World Cup against Palmeiras.

Lille, who reach the Round of 16 by topping a very difficult group, were Ligue 1 champions last season, but this year has been very different.

In 11th place in the French standings, the team coached by Jocelyn Gourvennec has not been able to settle for a place in the European places and will have one change for the Ligue 1 match against Metz.

Angel Gomes, who was injured last time out, will be replaced by Timothy Weah, son of the historic Lebanese striker, while Zeki Celik – a key member of last year’s champions – will come in at right back for Tiago Djaló.

Chelsea has an eleven that comes more from memory and it is difficult to replace any of its great players. The last victory over Crystal Palace by 1-0 left a great game of Hakim Ziyech sharing striker with Kai Havertz and Romelu Lukaku.

Further back, Jorginho and N’Golo Kanté are immovable and the only doubt is Christian Pulisic’s starting lineup. We will have to keep an eye on the defense: perhaps Tuchel will not use four players at the back and at the last minute he will opt for the line of three as when he goes out to eat the opponent.

Chelsea: Mendy; Christensen, Silva, Rudiger, Sarr; Kanté, Jorginho; Ziyech, Pulisic, Havertz; Lukaku.

LOSC Lille: Jardim; Celik, Fonte, Botman, Gudmundsson; Weah, André, Xeka, Bamba; David, Yilmaz.

In general features, Chelsea is favorite with 1.30 odds, while the draw pays 5.30 and Lille multiplies by 12.

That’s nine times Chelsea have finished their last matches with less than 4.5 yellow cards and five out of six have scored first: if the Blues score in the first half it will pay 1.5 odds.

Ziyech has been the talk of Chelsea’s last matches and, among so much activity, it would not be crazy for him to score at least once: +0.5 shots from Ziyech has a odd of 1.5 that is more likely than ever.
