Chelsea and Manchester United will fight in the summer to get Declan Rice out of West Ham and that fight is turning their pursuit into a real auction.
They have been aware all along that the midfielder would not be cheap to snap up, but as time goes on, his price keeps rising.

His performances in the Premier League keep taking the shine off him and David Moyes, his manager, knows that it won’t be long before he has to say goodbye to him, but not at any price.
The West Ham Scottish manager said at the start of February that Rice cost something like £100 million, but explained:
“They used to have the opportunity to get him cheap. You can get an idea of what I think now. It will take a gigantic amount of money”
As reported by The Times, that amount will now be at least 120 million pounds, around 144 million euros, which would make him one of the most expensive footballers in history.
Thus, if acquired at that price, the 23-year-old midfielder would become the most expensive signing in Premier League history.
That honor goes to Jack Grealish and the 117 million paid by Manchester City in the summer that went to the coffers of Aston Villa.
Of course many will assume I’m only referring to Declan Rice when I say “Tuchel wants a destroyer.” Nope. However I do think it’s clear as day he wants him. Laugh, mock & doubt it all you’d like. But above all it’s obvious to me that he wants to add a profile to the midfield. pic.twitter.com/1ayf2NmekL

Close behind is the 115 million it cost Chelsea to bring back Romelu Lukaku in the last summer window from Inter Milan.
Declan Rice did not want to renew a contract that expires on June 30, 2024, something that increased rumors in the last market and would suggest that the player plans to leave.
According to the English press, he will evaluate his options at the end of the season, when he will make a decision regarding his future, while the Hammers are competing at the top of the table to qualify for European competitions.

Chelsea playing with sentimentality: Rice arrived at West Ham’s youth academy at the age of 14, coming from the Blues’ academy.
Manchester United, however, will not give in easily. Rice fills a position that the Reds have long needed.
Rangnick knows that a pivot could help the foundations of the engine room, something that Fred and Scott McTominay have failed to do. The bidding has begun, in the summer we’ll see who gives the most.
