Bayern Munich will host Villarreal in the Champions League Quarter-Finals. And they will have to come back from a 1-0 deficit in Spain.

In Germany, more precisely in Munich, there will be one of the matches we least expected in this Champions League. Villarreal has the advantage and it is minimal. While Bayern Munich has what it takes and the history of this tournament backs it up.

In the Round of 16, Bayern Munich advanced with a 0-1 defeat. That said, it was against Red Bull Salzburg. A very different team to this Villarreal. But the truth is that at the Allianz Arena they were dispatched with a tremendous 7-1 win.

But Villarreal also backs up their exploits with history. In the previous round, they eliminated the mighty Juventus and in Italy no less.

In that match, Villarreal ran riot with a 3-0 win and against a European giant. Unai Emery’s team became the Cinderella of this Champions League.

Yellow fever arrived in Munich

It took them a while to make their presence felt. But they did so with all the noise and the good vibes of a fan base enjoying a historic event.

It is not the first time that Villarreal have reached the Champions League quarter-finals. But the yellow fans live it as if it were and enjoy the moment to the fullest. Especially after the 1-0 win in the first leg.

The 1,500 fans who have traveled from the city of La Plana have been gradually concentrating in the center of Munich. Both those who arrived on Monday night in the team plane as well as family and close friends. As well as those who landed in the morning.

Villarreal, which is located in a city with the same name, but is within La Plana, barely passes 50,000 inhabitants. As if to make this Champions League duel even more epic: 3% of its inhabitants have already traveled to Munich.

It is like transferring the atmosphere before a big match in La Cerámica to the main streets of Munich. A city of almost one and a half million inhabitants that also lives soccer with passion. The mix of red and yellow has worked thanks to the good mood of the fans of both clubs.

Even the odd daredevil from Munich 1860 lined up with the Villarreal fans. Their team, a derby team of Bayern, is currently in the third division. But it is the second most popular club in Munich.
