Few voices are as authoritative as Ronaldo Nazário’s to talk about strikers. Or about soccer in general. The Brazilian, winner of the Ballon d’Or in 1997 and 2002, nominated Benzema as the next winner of the award.

In an interview with Sky Sport Italia in which he was interviewed by Alessandro Del Piero, Ronaldo said:

“He deserves the Ballon d’Or. I’ve been saying it for years and I’ve been criticized. But he deserves it, he’s a great striker.”

Only a few excerpts of the interview were made public. It will be published in full after the Champions League match. Where Real Madrid and Chelsea will face each other in the quarterfinals.

In addition, Ronaldo referred to Real Madrid’s chances in the Champions League. And the incredible effect that playing it generates for him:

“Real Madrid is the favorite for the Champions League. It is not having a very good time. But it is in symbiosis with this competition. And then it has Ancelotti on the bench, who is one of the best in the world.”

Real Madrid, who did not go through a great time at the start of the season, was questioned in 2021-22. While Ancelotti even looks like he will not remain in charge for next season. Although they are leaders of La Liga and are almost inside the Champions League Semifinals.

Ronaldo recalls his time in Madrid

The Brazilian was an icon of the 90s and 2000s when he won the FIFA World Cup in 1994 and 2002. Although his thorn in his side was that he never lifted the Champions League.

In any case, Ronaldo is an authoritative voice on the subject. And at Real Madrid he experienced one of the best moments of his career when he arrived at the team of the Galactic’s:

“I have so many good memories. But what amazes me every time is the affection of the people wherever I go. I always find a lot of respect from everyone. The sporting results, the achievements both with Brazil and with the teams. It was a beautiful sporting life.”

Ronaldo now dedicates himself to sports management. And with his fortune he acquired Valladolid of Spain. The team currently plays in La Liga 2 and is third in the standings with hopes of promotion to Spain’s first division.

Ronaldo also tried to buy Cruzeiro of his country. Team from which he emerged as a soccer player. But there were some obstacles. About this new stage as a manager, he said:

“As president I still have important things to do. But during my career as a footballer, I have had great teachers, starting with Moratti, who was like a father to me and who taught me a lot. And Florentino Perez, who was great at reinventing soccer through the Galactic’s.”
