Historic: Bochum scored four goals in the first half against Bayern Munich and thrashed them as the newly promoted team. Lewandowski scored both goals for the Bundesliga leader and broke a goalscoring record again – Payon99news

By Facundo Di Bona (@facudibona).

Bayern Munich played the worst game of the season against Bochum: they lost 4-2 and in just half an hour of the first half they had already received a poker of goals.

Not even another two goals from Lewandowski could save the leader, who still has nine points more than Dortmund, although with one more game.

The game started as usual: Robert Lewandowski’s goal in his 25th goal in the 22 days of the Bundesliga.

Only once had this been surpassed: the same Polish striker last season, with 26 goals by now, which he still managed in the second half of this match.

Lewandowski’s goal heralded a placid afternoon for the leaders, but football has these wonderful things, and Bochum gave Bayern a historic review in half an hour.

Christopher Antwi-Adjej at 14 minutes scored the tie with a good left-footed shot to the near post.

Then, in six fateful minutes for Bayern Munich, Jurgen Locadia turned the penalty kick marker, the Costa Rican Cristian Gamboa -after a pipe, backheel and wall- fired into the right corner for a tremendous goal.

Finally, Gerrit Holtmann, with another shot, this time to Upamecano, scored another beautiful goal to the goalkeeper’s left corner.

Bochum made history by going into the break with four goals against the powerful and multi-champion Bayern Munich who did not have Manuel Neuer in goal, recently operated on, and who will not be able to be in the Champions League tie against RB Salzburg either.

Bayern’s was a historic defeat: it had been 18 years without losing to Bochum -2004- and they had not lost to a newly promoted Bundesliga player since 2010.

No one had scored four goals before half-time against Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga since Eintracht Frankfurt in 1974.

Fewer things happened in the second half, although the leader, logically, advanced lines and had several chances, until the same as always, Lewandowski, scored goal number 26 in his personal locker and the final 4-2 on the scoreboard.

With this loss, Bayern remains nine points above Borussia Dortmund, although BVB will play Union Berlin tomorrow.

Coach Julian Nagelsmann is lucky that the bottom teams have made more efforts not to be champions than Bayern Munich himself.
