Bielsa’s hours are numbered – Leeds United

The Argentine coach does not go through the best moment of him and the board would have set a date for his departure. His team will be fighting relegation this season and the outlook is really dark.

Leeds United is not having its best days. He lost his last three games and conceded 14 goals in them. One of the worst records in his history and without a doubt the worst since Marcelo Bielsa is there. The coach is in the eye of the storm.

With the results of the last games, it seems that Bielsa has been given a departure date: summer 2022. Although if the situation does not change, he could leave in the short term. What bothers in the directive are the number of goals against that the team had.

The criticisms are excessive: the fixture did not play a good pass and had to face Chelsea -european champion-, Manchester City -england champion- and Arsenal, in Champions League positions. Now he waits for Liverpool, but the match was postponed.

Not only that, but he suffers from a never-ending streak of injuries. There are 7 injured players and all of them starters. Some have been crucial like Liam Cooper: Since the defender left the field, Leeds have conceded 18 goals. A single record.

Patrick Bamford, Daniel James, Rodrigo, Jamie Shackleton and Pascal Struijk are other names. The one who hurt the team the most was Kalvin Phillips, the star of the team.

It is striking that the board is not responsible for this moment. Leeds United are one of the lowest budget teams in the Premier League and this is not their first season like it was in 2020.

In that year, Bielsa managed to lead Leeds to promotion after 16 years of struggling in the minor divisions. The leadership received millions for playing the Premier League, but never deposited that money as a trust in the coach.

Against all odds, the Argentine coach kept the team in the top flight. He was even able to aspire to European positions, but the squad took its toll on him. It was too short for such a goal.

The problem could be seen last year, but they did not want to. Accusing Bielsa of the bad moment of the team is easy. Inside doors they should think why they did not invest in improving the team and not suffer with the descents once again.
