The Rayados, representatives of Concacaf, dominated the first half with 63 percent of the possession, but Al-Ahly had the clearest offensive plays by taking advantage of counterattacks.
The Mexicans looked for it, they had the ball and they also dominated the territory, but they never knew how to break the Egyptian defense, well positioned and without any pressure.
Moreover, Al-Ahly traveled to the United Arab Emirates after suffering 13 casualties among those summoned to the African Cup of Nations, where Egypt will play the final today at 12:30 AM, infected with coronavirus and injuries, since even one player was torn ligaments in practice.

In the 3rd minute, Ahmed Abdelkader signed a shot in the area that was stopped by the Argentine Esteban Andrada, Monterrey goalkeeper, who in the 28th minute saved his goal again after a left-footed shot by Taher Mohamed.
The Rayados got tired of missing shots during the first half: Rogelio Funes Mori had two from the crescent of the area, first in minute 2 and then in minute 19, which went close to a post.
The Egyptian team was more dangerous in the opening minutes of the second half and in minute 53 they took the lead when a cross from the left by Ali Maâloul caused Andrada to reject the ball and allow Mohamed Hany, with his right foot, to convert the winning goal.

There was a long game ahead, but the Egyptian team countered all of Monterrey’s offensive attempts, which, except for a header by Maximiliano Meza -Argentina’s national team player- in the 55th minute saved by Ali Lotfi, did not bother Al again. Ahly.
The team from Egypt and the biggest team on the African continent made it to the semifinals against all odds – they paid between 6.5 and 7 at the bookmakers – and will have to face off against the powerful Brazilian team that disappointed in the FIFA Club World Cup last year: came fourth without even scoring a goal in the tournament.
